Companionship Beyond Books The Human Library

Companionship Beyond Books: The Human Library!

๐Ÿ—ฃ In today's fast-paced world, one silent challenge that often goes unnoticed is the loneliness experienced by our senior citizens.

With families becoming more nuclear and the younger generation's commitments stretching thin, many seniors crave companionship, meaningful conversation, and a sense of belonging.

Recognising this profound need, our initiative emerges as a compassionate and innovative solution to bridge this gap.

The Need:

๐Ÿช‘ Senior citizens, with their treasure trove of experiences, wisdom, and stories, often find themselves in the twilight of their lives, yearning for interaction and a sympathetic ear. This isolation not only affects their mental health but can lead to a decline in their physical well-being, too. Social interaction is not just a mere activity; it's a therapy, a vital component of their daily lives that rejuvenates their spirits, fosters emotional health and enhances their quality of life.

Proposal: Human Library is designed to bring warmth, companionship, and enriching conversation to the doorsteps of those who need it most. Drawing on the library concept, where books are borrowed and shared, our project enables volunteers to visit lonely people for friendly, heart-to-heart chats. Whether reminiscing, discussing current events, or sharing wisdom, these sessions provide company and a meaningful exchange of experiences and perspectives.

๐Ÿ“š Lonely person can 'borrow' a person instead of a book to talk about your story for about an hour or more!

This service can be in-person or online.

For whom?

  • This is for people, especially senior citizens, who feel lonely (the main beneficiary).

This is for volunteers who want to offer their time to keep senior citizens company (and earn).

Son or daughter living outside India can use this service for their parents in India.

For kind-hearted people who want to support this initiative, such as HR professionals, legal experts, trainers, and NGOs.

Personalised Profesional Visits: Our service will facilitate volunteers' visits to your home, ensuring a personalised and engaging experience. Each visit aims to be more than just a chat.

WHERE to meet? Our volunteers can meet

  1.  A small group of senior citizens in your society's common room.
  2. In a Senior citizen’s house.
  3. Online on Zoom.

Conclusion:

๐Ÿ“– "Human Library" is more than just a service; it's a movement towards creating a more inclusive, connected, and compassionate society!

๐Ÿ†˜ Please submit this Google FORM if you are interested in

  1. Volunteer to offer your services to chat
  2. Avail service of a volunteer for a chat (Age above 60)
  3. Active participation in the venture: Become a partner

Legs-Up-the-Wall! How do you solve leg or knee pain?

Legs-Up-the-Wall! How do you solve leg or knee pain?

Better alternative therapy!

Leg up the wall

The Legs-Up-the-Wall Pose is a powerful pose that offers health benefits. Add it to your daily routine:

Do this for about three to eight minutes.

Lie on your back with your legs extended up against a wall. Breathe slowly and deeply, and allow yourself to relax fully.

Improved Circulation:
  • Elevating your legs helps counteract the effects of gravity, reducing swelling and venous pooling. It’s particularly beneficial for people who spend much time standing or sitting, as it can relieve knee pain and alleviate leg cramps.

Support for the Lymphatic System:
  • It stimulates the lymphatic system, which is essential for immune function and detoxification. This helps the body eliminate toxins more effectively, enhancing overall health and well-being.
Please let me know your experiences, feedback, and comments.
I prescribe meditation, not medication.

Leg Pain? Swimming pool walk for spine treatment for leg pain

Swimming pool walk for spine treatment for leg pain

  1. Walk in a Swimming pool.
  2. Look over your shoulders.

Twist your Spine. If the spine problem is detected after the MRI scan, do the following two exercises.

For more details, WhatsApp Jyotindra at +91 9552946949.

Transform Pain into Empowerment:

1. Walk in a Swimming pool. You need not swim. Start with twenty minutes, gradually increasing to forty minutes every day.

2. Twist Spine. Look over your shoulders. These twists create more space between the vertebrae, which increases blood flow to the spine. Daily for two minutes, left and right, move gently.

Also good for preventing and becoming stress-free!

Chronic leg pain can be caused by nerves displaced or compressed in the spine and backbone.
Spinal nerve compression can lead to chronic leg pain.

Remedy: Better alternative therapy :)
OR go for surgery :(

Scientific meditation includes meditation methods and physical exercises.

Many people suffering from leg pain put themselves on bed rest or lean back in an easy chair, thinking that this will help them to heal. It doesn't! It's okay to rest for the first couple of days after the pain starts; after that, staying in bed usually makes things worse, not better. Moving helps with pain treatment in several ways.

What do you do before taking a meal? Mindful Meals by Jyotindra Zaveri

What do you do before taking a meal? Mindful Meals by Jyotindra Zaveri

What do you do before eating? Mindful Meals by Jyotindra Zaveri.

Cultivate Gratitude and Forgiveness with every bite. Four Spiritual Questions!

Mindful Meals! Before taking a meal?

Cultivate Gratitude and Forgiveness with every bite. Spiritual Questions!

What do you do before eating breakfast?

You offer food to monks before eating your breakfast, for that matter, every meal.

What do you do before eating Lunch?

Before eating, recite this: I forgive all living beings, and may everybody forgive me. I am on friendly terms with all and have no animosity toward anyone.

What do you do before eating dinner?

Before eating, say the following in your mind:

  1. It is not good if I have done any bad deed (there are 18 kinds of sins) by thought, speech, or action.
  2. I will not repeat it. There are 18 kinds of sins. I might not have done but got any bad deed through someone, by thought, or by speaking or by action, and then it is not good. I repent it. I will not repeat it. Indirectly doing bad things.
  3. It is not good if I have appreciated any bad deed done by others, whether through thought, speech, or action. I will not repeat it.

May my bad deeds become fruitless.

It is a good idea to confess, apologize and resolve not to repeat a mistake. It is a recognition of self-imperfections and a commitment to self-improvement.

This is a kind of micro-pratikraman that should be done daily, not a ritual to be done once a year on Samvatsari. This remorse is the Pratrikraman: To confess, apologize, and resolve not to repeat a mistake. Forgiveness is reconciling, repairing, rebuilding and revering relationships.

Michchhami Dukkadam

May my bad deeds (dushkrut) become fruitless (mithya). This is a word in the ancient Ardhamaagdhi language (spoken during the time of Lord Mahavir). It means ‘Mithya me dushkrutam,’ which means ‘May my bad deeds (dushkrut) become fruitless (mithya) ‘.

What do you do AFTER eating dinner?

After dinner, take a moment to express gratitude. Think about the people and organizations that have helped you throughout the day or your life, and mentally thank them. This simple practice fosters a sense of appreciation and positivity, enhancing your overall well-being and emotional health.

Ending your day with gratitude can improve your outlook and strengthen your connections with others.
